Music
All students in Years 7, 8 and 9 study Performing, Composing and Appraising through a number of different topics including World, Religious and Historical Music, as well as Blues and Jazz.
Nine instrumental teachers specialise in Violin, Viola, Cello, Flute, Guitar, Clarinet, Saxophone, Piano, Keyboard and Singing
Students may choose to receive an instrumental lesson once a week, and students are prepared for Associated Board Music Examinations.
Music is offered at GCSE, AS and A2-Level. Students have gone on to study Music at London University and at the Royal College of Music
The Music Department has been awarded an ICT grant from the Wolfson Foundation, granting an overhaul of the current ICT Music facilities. From September 2009, the girls will be using state-of-the-art notation and recording software on new computers.
There will also be a new recording studio with recording equipment such as microphones and studio cabling, thereby greatly increasing the teaching of music technology throughout the school. Students will be able to podcast projects they have written, performed or recorded.
